Hi, I'm Rolando Rodriguez, founder of RolanDogs. My journey into dog training began when I was thirteen years old in New York City. A neighbor, Mrs. Casey, hired me to walk her white German Shepherd twice a day. Because of my love for animals, I enthusiastically accepted. Two weeks after I started walking Joey, he saw a cat run in front of us and darted across the street off after it, yanking the leash from my hand. As he crossed the street, he got run over by a taxi and got hurt badly but recovered in a couple of weeks. When he recovered, Mrs. Casey came to ask me if I would continue to walk Joey. After seeing the shock look on my face, Mrs. Casey said the accident was not my fault because Joey was an untrained dog, and I didn’t know any better. I never wanted to go through that traumatic experience again in my life, so I consumed books about dog training and was able to train Joey and a lot of other dogs in the neighborhood. I continued to help people with their dogs all my life after that. From a young age, I learned that the key to effective communication with your dog is to establish an unbreakable bond with the animal and everything else flows from that. This has been a hobby and side gig until 2020, when I founded RolanDogs to help other dog owners enjoy a lifelong bond with their dogs.
